McGregor Applauds State Investment in PrimeOhio II Economic Development Project

State Representative Ross McGregor (R-Springfield) today applauded the decision by the Ohio Department of Development to award a grant for $150,000 in Job Ready Site funds towards the development of the PrimeOhio II industrial park in Springfield Township.

“This is a tremendous boost towards the development of PrimeOhio II, and will help to bring this economic development project closer to reality,” Representative McGregor said. “The Greater Springfield area has made great strides to help foster economic development and job creation in the region and this grant will help in attracting new jobs to the area,” McGregor continued.

PrimeOhio II is an industrial park on 250 acres located on Ridge Road along Interstate 70 across from the Clark County Fairgrounds. Depending on the tenants, the park could attract as many as 1,000 new jobs over the next 10 years. The Ohio Department of Development Job Ready Site Grant will assist in road and pipeline construction on the site.

“With unemployment in Clark County at 10.7 percent, this sends a strong message that we are committed to creating job opportunities throughout the area,” McGregor said. I am very excited about the potential PrimeOhio II will provide for our region.”

McGregor: Cut Wasteful Spending, Keep Ohioans Informed

Columbus—State Representative Ross McGregor (R-Springfield) today introduced House Bill 561,  legislation to require the Office of Budget and Management to maintain a database showing capital project appropriations and re-appropriations, to make the database available online and to submit a biennial report to the General Assembly.

“This legislation will reduce unnecessary spending and increase our government’s accountability to the public,” said Rep. McGregor. “Ohio is in the midst of the 15th straight month of double-digit unemployment; we cannot afford to needlessly spend taxpayer dollars.”

Rep. McGregor drafted the legislation after a project budgeted more than five years ago in his district sought re-appropriation. The proposed legislation would allow the public and the legislature to better monitor projects which have been appropriated state funds. With a biennial report, legislators will be equipped with information to choose whether or not to continue funding a specific project.

Ross McGregor Files To Seek Third Term in State House; Prepares for May Primary Election

Ross McGregor (R- Springfield) filed paperwork on February 10 with the Clark County Board of Elections to seek a third full term as State Representative for the 72nd House District.

“It continues to be an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of the 72nd House district and I look forward to making the case to the electorate over the next few months for why I believe I should continue to serve in the people’s house in Columbus” McGregor said. “This promises to be an exciting election year and I look forward to having the opportunity to speak one on one with the voters of Clark County” said McGregor.

First appointed to the seat to fill the vacancy left following the resignation of former State Representative Merle Grace Kerns, Ross McGregor has established a reputation for being a consensus builder among his colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the General Assembly.  Representative McGregor is one of a handful of legislators who has practical experience as a manufacture and lends a common sense, pragmatic voice to the issues faced by the General Assembly.

Since coming to the legislature, McGregor has successfully sponsored numerous bills which have been enacted into law, including legislation which requires local governments to post signs notifying drivers that red light cameras are used in the area, a bill which waives fines and penalties levied against small business owners for first time paperwork violations, and legislation which prohibits discrimination on the basis of military service.

“I am very proud of the accomplishments that I have achieved in my time in the legislature” McGregor said. “I look forward to having the chance to discuss my previous accomplishments as well as future challenges and opportunities during both the spring primary campaign and on into November.”

State Representative Ross McGregor Lauded for Contribution to Springfield City School District

State Representative Ross McGregor (R-Springfield) was recognized by the Springfield City Schools Board of Education during the board’s monthly meeting on January 14 for his contribution of over 200 American Flags to schools in the district for use during morning Pledge of Allegiance ceremonies.

“It was indeed an honor and a privilege to be able to assist the Springfield City School District in providing these flags to the schools and students throughout the district,” Representative McGregor said. “It is important that future generations of young Americans grow up to understand the importance of the American Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance.”

Last year, Representative McGregor was contacted by students at Horace Mann Elementary School in Springfield asking for his help in providing flags for their classroom. Representative McGregor decided that it would be worthwhile to contact all schools in the Springfield City School District and provide them with an opportunity to acquire new flags for their schools as well. On Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2009, Representative McGregor delivered the flags to the schools that had requested them and presented a small program on the relevance and importance of the American Flag.

“Civic responsibility is very important for our students to learn as they prepare themselves for their future as citizens of our state and our country,” Representative McGregor said. “I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to help provide these flags for the schools in the Springfield City School District, and I look forward to continuing to work to improve the quality of education in our area for the foreseeable future.”
